Leonard H. Ludwig

Leonard H. Ludwig, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Kathy Hospice after 86 years of life.

He was born on April 21, 1920, to Harry O. and Lydia R. (nee Retzke) Ludwig in Coloma, Mich., where he was also raised.

After graduating from Benton Harbor (Mich.) High School, Leonard was employed at Whirlpool until he enlisted in the United States Navy, honorably serving his country for three years.

He married Laura Schmidt on October 1, 1944, in Michigan.

Leonard was again employed by Whirlpool until his retirement after 40 years.

In 2002, they moved to Wisconsin.

Leonard enjoyed gardening, watching the Chicago Cubs and fishing.

He was a member of Whirlpool Retirees Group, "Old Timers," and AHSGR (American Historical Society of Germans from Russia).

Leonard will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Laura R; his dear daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (Steven) Enter of West Bend; a niece, Deborah Dennison; and a nephew, Lee (Darcy) Denni-son.

He will also be missed by other relatives, and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Leonard Jr. "Butch;" and a sister, Lorraine Yauch.

A funeral service in honor of Leonard will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 621 Division St., Newburg, with Pastor Jon Baumann officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at church from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m.

There will also be a funeral service at St. Matthew’s Evangel-ical Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor, on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m., with a visitation prior to the funeral service beginning at noon.

Interment will take place in North Shore Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. John’s Music Program (Newburg), Michigan Lutheran High School or St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Michigan.
