Vera L. Toepfer

Vera L. Toepfer, 104, of Hartford entered into eternal life on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006.

She was born on Oct. l4, 1902, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lois Fassbinder.

Vera married Leonard, her high school sweetheart, in 1922 and eventually moved to Madison where they spent their married life.

After Leonard died in 1965, she stayed in Madison until moving to Hartford in 1995. She lived at Wellington Place Assisted Living for over eight years.

Vera had a great zest for life, family, music and her Catholic faith.

She was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Monona and St. Mary of the Hill, Holy Hill.

Vera was the loving mother of James (Suzanne) Toepfer of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Nancy Hutchison of Hartford and Kent (Elizabeth) Toepfer of Ocean Park, Wash.; the dearest grandmother of Nancy (Scott) Willett, Diane (Forrest) Dykstra, Gregg (Diane) Gernetzke, Gail (Gregory) Ritzke, Jim (Debora) Hutchison, Anne (James) Dlugopolski and Mary (Michael) Smrz; loving great-grandmother of Max, Katie and Jenna Willett, Laura and Will Dykstra, Heidi and Brent Ritzke, Paul and Leah Gernetzke, Bon-niejean Zitzke, Kent and Evan Hutchison, Amanda and Julia Dlugopolski, and Matthew and Madison Smrz.

She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her daughter and son-in-lawm Elaine (Gervase) Gernetzke; and her son-in-law, Bert Hutchison.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. at Holy Hill, The Chapel of St. Therese, Level 2.

Family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Hill on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Madison.

Memorials to West Bend-Heartland Hospice or the charity of the donorís choice would be appreciated.
