Daniel R. "Dan" Collins

Daniel R. "Dan" Collins, 63, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 surrounded by his loving family.

Dan was born on Jan. 1, 1943, the son of James M. and Delores (nee Hudy) Collins in Milwaukee, where he was also raised, and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1961.

On March 3, 1962, he married Elizabeth Ann Bergmann at St. Aloyious in West Allis.

Dan worked for a short time after his graduation, until he entered into the United States Navy. While he honorably served his country, the couple began a family of their own.

When he returned home from the Navy, they lived in West Allis, later moved to Richfield, and eventually settled in West Bend in 1986.

Dan was a dedicated employee of A.O. Smith/Tower Automotive until his retirement after 31 years of service.

He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Work-ers Union District 10.

Dan enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing, and loved to trap shoot and ride his mule, "Mollie Bee."

After retirement, he loved working at Washington County Memorial Park in the summers, where he developed many friendships.

He will be missed by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; his children, Daniel (Jillene) Collins of Minnesota, Gary (fianceŽ Paul-ene) Collins of Theresa and Karen Collins of New Orleans; six grandchildren; brothers, Stephen (Suzann) Collins of Rhinelander, Patrick (Judy) Collins of Germantown and William (Lean) Collins of Colgate; his sister, Mary (Tom) Buraczewski of Montello; his godmother and Auntie, June (Pete) Jafuta; and all his wonderful friends in Wiscon-sin and Arizona.

He will also be missed by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, James Collins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in honor of Dan on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, West Bend, with Father Jeffrey Haines officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church only on Saturday from 9 until 10:30 a.m.

Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.
