Daniel J. Rozek
"I have come through cancer a stronger person, with a true joy in each moment of life. But more importantly, a true believer of Godís power and goodness with the promise of eternal life."
Daniel J. Rozek, 57, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Josephís Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel was born on Oct. 31, 1948 to Theodore A. and Dolores (nee Cary) Rozek in West Allis, where he was also raised.
He graduated from West Milwaukee High School in 1967, and after high school, he worked for A.O. Smith.
On May 24, 1969, Daniel devoted his life and his love to his best friend and companion, Shirley K. Fettig.
Later in 1969, he entered the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was, as his family stated, "our hero, a model of strong faith, kindness, patience, understanding, and COURAGE."
After honorably serving with the United States Army, he became a member for 32 years, of the Steamfitters Union Local #601 and worked at J.M. Brennan Inc.
Among Danielís favorite pastimes, he most enjoyed the quality time spent with his family, whom he loved and adored.
He and Shirley raised their children in West Bend. Daniel was especially proud of his two sons for their decisions in life and the career choices they made. They were his heroes and together, made a good team.
He was also incredibly proud of his two special daughters-in-law.
Daniel loved golfing with his sons and his brother, camping and traveling to warm places during the month of January, and he was a big fan of both NASCAR and Indy racing.
He was a member of the Lt. Ray Dickop Post 36 American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America 331 and the Loyal Order of the Moose 1398.
Daniel will forever be remembered and loved by his soulmate and best friend, Shirley; his cherished sons, Dan (Jennifer) Rozek Jr. and Stephen (Anna) Rozek, both of West Bend; and his two grandchildren, Lindsey and Tanner, the sunshine of his life.
He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Kitty (Fred) Krasovich of Milwaukee, Tim (Jessica) Gintner of West Bend and Peggy (Gary) Chepeck of Forestville; his mother-in-law, Pauline Fettig; his siblings-in-law, Bernetta Alliet of West Bend, George (Kitty) Fettig of Arizona, Dave (Ruth) Fettig of Iron Ridge, Randy (Kathy) Fettig of West Bend and Jerome Fettig of West Bend; other special relatives and many dear friends.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Ted Rozek and Dolores "Granny" Gintner; his stepparents, Betty Rozek and Leo "Gramps" Gintner; and his father-in-law, George Fettig Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. at Jesus Our Shepherd Church in Nenno.
Interment will take place in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, following the Mass of Christian Burial.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for memorials offered in lieu of flowers.
They would also like to offer their sincere gratitude to Dr. Bruce Griswold, Dr. Marjorie Vukelich, Dr. Mark Juckett in Madison, Dr. Jeffrey Smale, and Kathy Isabelle for her tireless efforts.
