Mary L. "Bambi" Best
Mary L. "Bambi" Best, 88, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.
Mary was born on Dec. 16, 1917 in Milwaukee to the late Arthur C. and Pearl (nee Heiseg) Best.
She graduated from Shorewood High School and Ms. Brown’s Business School.
Mary was actively involved in dog show competitions all over the United States and raised and showed her own Scottish Terriers proudly over the years.
She enjoyed traveling, singing, tap dancing and telling jokes.
Mary spent the summers with her family on Big Cedar Lake and enjoyed visiting family on the lake every Fourth of July.
She was a member of the Scottish Terrier Club of America and the American Kennel Club.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Kay Best of West Bend; nieces, Sue (Russ) Darrow of Big Cedar Lake, Judith (Barry) Dukes of Fond du Lac and Jane (Tom) Regnier of Orono, Minn.; nephews, Arthur W. (Jacqueline) Best of Big Cedar Lake and John A. (Patricia) Best of Big Cedar Lake.
Further surviving are many other friends and relatives, including Carl and Chickie Beyer of Fox Point.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Kathleen Mertin, Gertrude Best, and Jane Slocum; and two brothers, Arthur H. Best and John R. Best, along with her best friend and travel companion, Tad Morris.
Funeral services for Mary Best will be on Monday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Cheryl L. Matusiak officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Forest Home Cemetery of Milwaukee.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
