Joseph P. Lackas

Joseph P. Lackas, 52, of Theresa, died on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at his residence.

He was born March 16, 1953 in Fond du Lac to Reuben and Frances (Spaeth) Lackas, and married Hertha Mueller on Sept. 10, 1983 in Theresa.

Joe lived his entire life in the Theresa area, graduating from Lomira High School in 1971.

He was employed at Wondra Excavating, where he learned skills that had made his own business so successful.

In 1980 Joe started Lackas Trucking and Excavating. He stayed active in the business up until the time of his long and courageous battle with cancer.

Snowmobiling and good times with friends were enjoyed by Joe.

Survivors include his wife, Hertha; two daughters, Jamie Lackas and Ashley Lackas, both of Theresa; his mother, Frances Lackas of Theresa; a brother, Ronald (special friend Pam Butterfield) of Theresa; eight sisters, Patty (Dan) Lynch of Fond du Lac, Helen (Gary) Margelofsky of Mayville, Theresa (John) Phillips of Fairfax, Va., Kathy (Rick) Margelofsky of Mayville, Barb (Kelly) McDaniels of Oshkosh, Doris (Jim) Koenings and Ann Hoff, both of Lomira and Linda Lackas (special friend Mark Rochwite) of Campbells-port; 21 nieces and nephews; a great-niece; two great-nephews; her parents-in-law, Jakob and Kathy Mueller; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was her father, Reuben, in 1994.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Theresa.

Rev. Kevin Kowalske will officiate, and interment will be in St. Theresa’s Memorial Gardens in Theresa.

Visitation will be at the church only on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and also on Wednesday from 9 until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.

The Cottrill Funeral Home, Mayville, is assisting the family.
