John A. Sterr
John A. Sterr of Hartford passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. He was 87 years old.
He was born Jan. 11, 1919, the son of Jacob and Theresa (nee Schmitt) Sterr.
He married Anna Marie Lackas on Feb. 23, 1946.
John was a member of St. Mary’s of the Hill Parish and the Hartford Senior Friends.
He was a lifelong resident of the town of Erin.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna; his children, Margaret (Daniel) Stratman of Watertown, Dorothy of Elm Grove, Joseph (Roxy) of Kewaskum, Arlene (Michael) Borchardt of Greenfield, Lenora (Jerry) Moe of Milwaukee, Harvey (Stephanie) of Menomonee Falls and Harold (Cheryl) of Menomonee Falls; 13 grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Stratman, Linda (Jason) Kilps, Kristina (David) Reinke, Trisha (Joseph) Falk, Josh Sterr, Amber (Joel) Stroschin, Jennifer (Christopher) Hoedel, Michael Borchardt Jr., Victoria, Wyatt, Cole, Nicole and Danielle Sterr; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Caroline (Art) Young of Rubicon, Lucille (Francis) Merkes of Iron Ridge, and Marion Lackas of Hartford. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Josephine Zehren and Frances Rettler.
Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Chapel in Thompson with Father Fred Alexander officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Tuesday at Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford with a prayer vigil.
Interment was in St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of one’s choice appreciated.
