John A. Ecker
John A. Ecker, 83, of West Bend died on Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community.
He was born Oct. 31, 1922 in West Bend to the late John J. and Elsie D. (nee Bach) Ecker, and on Aug. 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Eileen M. Barber at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Bend.
John was employed with Wisconsin Electric Power Co. for 36 years, retiring as a foreman in August 1984.
In addition to being an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, John was a member of the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology in Ontario, Canada, the North American Model Engineering Society and IBEW Local 2150.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Ruth (Donald) Ruh of West Bend, Jean (Stephen) Barber of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada and Michael (Katherine) of Westboro; three grandchildren, Kelsey and Justin Barber and Jed Ecker; a brother-in-law, William (Gwynda) Barber of Shawano; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and parents-in-law, Glenn and Mabel (nee Anderson) Barber.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Rev. David Schoob will officiate, and burial will be in Wash-ington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation at the church only will be on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. and also on Tuesday from noon until 12:45 p.m.
The family has requested memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church.
The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.
