Walter A. "Wally" Pavelski, 75, of Jackson was called home to the Lord on Feb. 22, 2006.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1930 to Walter and Paulene (nee Bonkowski) in Buena Vista.
Beloved husband of Margaret M. "Peggy" (nee Banahan); loving father of Jessica (Ken) Pelt, Rick, Steven, Sheri (Del) Prokop, Connie (Carl) Kohn and Gina (Jim) Blank; grandfather to Peter, Ross, Nichole, Aisha, Kristi, Dylan, Emily and Holden. He is also survived by one sister, Harriet (Jack) Weidand; one brother, Jerome (Doris); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wally grew up and attended school in Amherst. As a United States Marine during the Korean War, Wally survived enemy combat aboard the USS Essex.
He married his childhood sweetheart Carol Wied on Aug. 25, 1952. She preceded him in death on May 17, 1998. Wally and Carol owned and operated W&C Trucking, Inc. for more than 40 years until their retirement in 1995.
Wally was blessed to find love again, and on Oct. 15, 2005 married Margaret (nee Banahan).
Wally enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, bargain hunting, dancing and traveling in their RV to many special locations with Peggy.
He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 1 at 10:20 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church (North), 1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg.
Military honors will be offered at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery following the Mass. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 4 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. and also Wednesday, March 1, from 9 until 10:20 a.m.
