James A. Welker
James A. Welker, 63, of New Holstein died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, Feb. 24, 2006.
He was born Dec. 11, 1942 in Kiel, a son of Henrietta Hoehl Welker and the late Stanley Welker. Jim graduated from New Holstein High School in 1961. On Aug. 29, 1964 he married Joan Butz at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Joan preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2002.
Jim owned and operated Imperial Dry Cleaners in New Holstein since 1968.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, a member of the New Holstein Lions Club, the Outdoor’s Inc., the E.A.A. Warbirds of America, Wednesday night Golf League at Badger Creek Golf Course and a former member of the Kiel City Band.
Survivors include his 3 children, Keith (Barb) Welker of West Bend, Ken (Leanne) Welker of Green Bay and Ann (Randy) Meyer of New Holstein; eight grandchildren; his mother, Henrietta Welker of New Holstein; his father-in-law, Gordon Butz of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Wayne (Kathy) Butz of Mauston; two sisters-in-law, Lois (Bob) Seidensticker of West Bend and Linda (Rick) Doll of West Bend.
He was preceded in death by his father, his wife Joan and two sisters, Ruth Ann Bloy and Sue Casper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
A prayer service will be held at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Ave., New Holstein at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, followed by a short service conducted by the New Holstein Lions Club; visitation will follow until 8 p.m. and friends may call again at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home.
A memorial fund will be established in his name.
