Lester E. Sterman

Lester E. Sterman of Hartford passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford. He was 85 years old.

He was born May 14, 1920 in Hartford to John and Millie (nee Brown) Sterman.

Lester had been a past member of First Congregational Church and mostly recently attended Tabernacle of Joy in Hartford.

He helped with the feeding, raising and showing of the draft horses and dogs at the Bast Farm for many years. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Draft Horse Association Hall of Fame. One of his favorite pastimes was being at the county fair greeting old friends and fair goers.

Lester is survived by his sister, Beth Runkel of Michigan; nieces and nephews, Muriel Bast of Hartford, Jeanne Bast of Hartford, John (Kathy) Bast of California, Rachel (Tom) Arentson of Milwaukee and Ruth (Steve) Carlson of Indiana; and great nieces and great nephews, Kristina, Karolyn, Jordan, Breann, Matthew, Ryan and Connor. He will be missed by other cousins and special friends.

Lester was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Bast, Eva and Ruth both died in infancy; and brothers-in-law, Curt Runkel and Art Bast.

Funeral services for Lester were Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 at Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. Bob Meyer officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Jan. 18 at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Tabernacle of Joy church appreciated.
