Clara H. Theisen

Clara H. Theisen, nee Marx, 87, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006 at Cedar Lake Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 12, 1918, on the family homestead in the town of Barton, to the late Ida (nee Schiller) and Andrew Marx.

Following her marriage to Raymond J. Theisen on May 4, 1946 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in Barton, the couple settled in Barton.

In 1950, their family moved to West Bend where she lived until 2001.

As a young adult, Clara worked for Norman Showalter’s family, the Enger Kress Co. and the West Bend Aluminum Co.

Later, after the death of her husband, she worked at the West Bend High School and Cedar Lake Home.

Clara was a member of Holy Angels Parish for many years and was active in the Foresters and the Mission Circle.

Survivors include three children, Paul (Barb) Theisen of West Bend, Ann (Vince) Pelote of Sterling, Mass. and Judy (Walt) Walker of Reedville, Va.; four grandchildren, Amy (Keith) Gardner of West Bend, Adam (Annie) Theisen of Chicago, Ill., Angela (Dan) Van Beek of West Bend and Sarah Pelote of Sterling; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Alyssa Gardner of West Bend.

She is further survived by her brother, Joe (Gertrude) Marx of Kewaskum; four sisters-in-law, Louise Marx of Barton, Mildred Theisen of St. Michaels, Mildred Theisen of Kewaskum and Lucille Petri of West Bend; two brothers-in-law, Henry Goetz and George Schickert, both of West Bend; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, on March 17, 1961; an infant daughter; a brother, Edward Marx and a sister, Helen Goetz.

A funeral service to honor the life of Clara will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at noon at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Father Jeffrey Haines officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Barton.

Visitation with family and friends will be held at the funeralhome on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Clara are appreciated to Cedar Community, 5595 Highway Z, West Bend, Wis. 53095.

The family would like to extend its gratefulness for the care and compassion given to Clara by the Silverbrook third-floor nurses and staff and Cedar Community’s Hospice.
