Gertrude A. Kuehl

Gertrude A. Kuehl, nee Rackow, 88, of Hartford passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006. at the Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee.

She was born Jan. 10, 1918 in Mayville to Gustav and Frieda (nee Ortman) Rackow, and married Clarence Kuehl in 1936 in Mayville.

Gertrude had a life filled with many different careers and interests.

She was a caretaker for individuals when families needed a respite or individuals needed some extra help, she worked at the TriManor Care Center and was the cook at Saylesville School.

She belonged to the Hartford Senior Friends, the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries and the Ladies Aid at Peace Lutheran Church.

Gertrude enjoyed cooking, baking playing cards and polka music.

survivors include her children, Delores (Thomas) Abbott, Roger (Pat) Kuehl, Darlene (Mike) Wagner, Doris (Donald) Lechner and Russell (Beth) Kuehl, all of Hartford; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Kuehl of Iron Ridge; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a brother, Rudolph Rackow of Mayville; a brother-in-law, Rueben (Arlene) Pribnow of Theresa and a sister-in-law, Elvira Kamrath of Mayville.

She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her son, Robert; a great-grandson, Adam Kuehl; a sister, Evelyn Sorgan; a stepsister, Dorothy (Wally) Mussack and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rackow.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hart-ford.

Rev. David Wietzke will officiate, and interment will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Iron Ridge.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, from 4:30 t0 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Memorials to Peace Lutheran Church or its Ladies Aid would be appreciated.
