Isabella J. Schaefer

Isabella J. Schaefer, nee Gass, 88, of West Bend, formerly of the town of Addison, died on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hos-pital, West Bend.

She was born Oct. 5, 1917 in the town of Addison to the late John and Christina (nee Heinecke) Gass, and on Nov. 26, 1938 was united in marriage to Roland J. Schaefer at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence.

Roland passed away on May 27, 1985.

In 1940, Isabella and Roland moved to Milwaukee where they raised their four children.

Following Roland’s retirement in 1974, the couple moved back to their roots, settling in St. Anthony.

Isabella was a member of the Mission Club and the Christian Women’s Confraternity at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

Survivors include four children, Michael (Lynn) of Ocono-mowoc, Daniel (Marilyn) of Port Washington, Nancy (Edward) Smith of East Troy and Karen (Eugene) Wolf of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Craig (Natalie) Schaefer, Matthew (Jami) Smith, David Smith (fianceŽ Sarah), Luke Smith, Brian (Stacy) Schae-fer, Christy (Travis) Peterson, Katie Wolf, Jennifer Wolf and Andrea Wolf; five great-grandchildren, Tylar and Ashlei Schaefer, Matthew Peterson, Piper Smith and Carly Schaefer; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Robert Johnson) Gass of West Bend and Mary Jane Gass of Slinger; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Judith, at birth; eight sisters and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton.

Father Werner Wolf will be the presider, and burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be on Monday from 4 until 6:46 p.m.

The family has requested memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
