John J. Funck

John J. Funck, 77, of Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 at University Hospital in Madison.

John James Funck was born on Nov. 30, 1928 in Elcho to the late John and Catherine (Phillips) Funck.

On Sept. 26, 1953, he was united in marriage with Nancy Oldenburg at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo. John served in the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines.

He worked at Zelasoski Wood Products in Antigo and then worked for Chrysler Outboard in Hartford for 17 years, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed his grandchildren, especially watching their sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Funck of Beaver Dam; three children, Terry (Marcy) Funck of Fox Lake, Victoria (Andrew) McLean of Hartford and Timothy (Carol) Funck of Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret.

A memorial gathering was held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam prior to a memorial service at the funeral home with the Rev. John Breitwisch officiating. Cremation has taken place.
