Mabel A. Wehner Varga
Mabel A. Wehner Varga, 86, passed away Monday, July 3, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Janesville.
She was born on May 13, 1920 in the town of Osceola, the daughter of the late Ezra and Anna Kutz Galligan. On Nov. 24, 1943, she married Herbert M. Wehner at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
Herbert passed away on March 29, 1985.
On Aug. 23, 1986, she married Charles Varga at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Campbellsport. Charles and Mabel had resided in Janesville the last few years.
Mabel was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Campbellsport and had been active in the Ladies Aid and the Dorcas Society.
Mabel worked at International Harvester during World War II.
Mabel and Herbert moved to Campbellsport in 1950 and owned and operated a jewelry store. She later worked at the Ben Franklin store and at St. Joseph’s Convent in Campbellsport.
Survivors include her husband Charles; her daughters Sue (Daniel) Majerus of Eden and Mary (Paul) Dombeck of Waupun; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her stepchildren Nadine Schnell, Nanette Brandt, Naomi Martin and Carl Varga, all of Janesville; 10 step-grandchildren; her brothers Edward Galligan and James (Jackie) Galligan; her sisters Doris (Robert) Way, Ruth Long and Genevieve (Melvin) Stoffel; her sisters-in-law Donna Galligan, Joanne Galligan, Ursala Badamy and Pearl Birkholz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert M. Wehner; brothers Marvin, Levi, Orville, Roy and Donald; sister Laura Galligan; sister-in-law Patsy Galligan; and brothers-in-law Leo Long, Leonard Birkholz and Patrick Badamy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7 at 7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Campbellsport. Rev. Paul A. Cerny will officiate.
Entombment will be Saturday, July 8 at Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. until time of services at the church.
