Dorothy Comins, 86, of Campbellsport died on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1919 in Marone, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of William and Clara (Vander Grinten) Majerus.
On Jan. 21, 1939 she married Roland "Smokey" Comins at St. Matthew’s Church.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s Church in Campbells-port, the Christian Women and the Ethan Allen Community Club.
She worked at Regal Ware for over 20 years.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards.
She and Smokey also farmed in Eden and Ashford until Smokey’s retirement in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard on May 23, 1957 and by her husband, Smokey on Feb. 14, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank Hermanns; a great-grandson, Mark Jaeger; her brothers, Arthur, Donald, John, Robert and William Majerus; and her sisters, Cecilia Wilhelm and Catherine Enfeldt Iding.
She is survived by her six daughters, Pat (Cyril) Serwe of Campbellsport, Faye Hermanns of St. Peter, Barbara (Gerald) Jaeger of Campbellsport, Jane (Thomas) Gitter of Green Bay, Ellen (Gary) Rauch of Allenton and Janet "Cricket" (Nick) Schneider of St. Cloud.
She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Irene and Kathleen Majerus, as well as 27 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport.
Rev. Neil Zinthefer and Rev. Mel Hermanns will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, and also on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
