John "Jack" L. Kurtz

Private services will be held for John "Jack" L. Kurtz today at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton. Jack was born to life on #Oct. 6, 1917 and born to eternal life on Saturday, July 8, 2006. A private burial will take place at Lakefield Cemetery.

Jack was born in Saukville, moved to Port Washington and then to Cedarburg, where he graduated from high school in 1935. Jack enjoyed playing basketball and football during his high school years. On June 13, 1942 he married Irene Blank of Grafton and eventually settled in Grafton. He and his wife raised two children, Kenny and Jan Kurtz.

Jack worked for Bolens Corporation in Port Washington for 21 years. He retired in 1981 after eight years with Woodrow Brixius in Milwaukee. Jack and his wife then moved to north Fort Myers, Fla., to enjoy a favorite pastime - golf! Jack enjoyed many years of fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed walking and watching and listening to football and basketball games. All who knew him heard how Jack loved his computer. Jack was also an active member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Lakefield.

Jack is survived by his loving wife Irene; children Kenny Kurtz of Milwaukee and Jan Kurtz of Grafton; sister-in-law Bea (Al) Blank; and nieces Mary (Ted) Royer, Ruth Ann Brown, Carol (Jay) Allen, Betty Bowers and Cindy (Chris) Yatchak. Jack was further survived by great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Vitas Hospice or St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Lakefield would be appreciated.
