Norma Jean Thompson

Norma Jean Thompson (nee Phillips) of Hartford passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Angelís Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc. She was 77 years old.

She was born Oct. 13, 1928 in New Auburn to George and Gladys (nee Moe) Phillips.

She married Russell Thompson on March 8, 1948 in Pine City, Minn. at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hartford.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, shopping, bingo and especially eating ice cream.

Norma and Russell loved to travel in their RV to many places around the country.

She is survived by her three children, Jean Marcone of Burlington, Philip (Diane) Thompson of Hartford and Lisa (Jon) Schmidt of Hartford; seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Armin), Charlotte (Charles), Brent (Tricia), Allen, Jamie, Brittany and Krista; seven great-grandchildren, Soren, Wayne, Connor, Cecoya, Alexis, Alyvia and Anthony; two sisters, Helen Johnson of Chippawa Falls and Marge (Fred) Marick of Eau Claire; and a brother, Lyle (Shirley) Phillips of Amery. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell in 2003; son-in-law, David Marcone; grandson, Christopher; great-granddaughter, Cinnamon; and brother-in-law, Elmer Johnson.

Funeral services for Norma will be Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, with Rev. Brian Kundinger officiating.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
