Martha R. Hembel

Martha R. Hembel (nee Fleischmann), of the town of Erin, was welcomed through the gates of Heaven on Friday, July 7, 2006 at Cedar Lake Healthcare Center, at the age of 96.

Martha was born July 20, 1909, the daughter of Barney and Rose (nee Wickert) Fleischmann, in the town of Polk and was raised in Monches. On Nov. 21, 1936 she married her soul mate, Walter H. Hembel Sr., in Jackson.

After marriage, the couple began a loving family of their own. Martha enjoyed gardening, animals and she will always be remembered for her delicious baked goods. Above all other pastimes, she most loved spending quality time with her family, whom came first in her life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Richfield.

Martha has forever touched the lives and hearts of her cherished children, June Neumann and Walter (Sharon) Hembel of the town of Erin; her treasured grandchildren, Brenda (Chuck) Rolli and Brian Hembel; her seven adored great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Irene Fleischmann; brother-in-law, Ray Gastrau and her sister-in-law on Walter’s side, Ruth Wieseke. She will also be missed by nieces, nephews, other special relatives and dear friends.

Martha was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her parents, her beloved husband of 68 cherished years, Walter H. Hembel Sr.; two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 11 from 5 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend), with Rev. Donald Koehn officiating.

Interment will take place on July 12, at 10 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Park.
