Henry C. "Hank" Vanderwalker

Henry C. "Hank" Vanderwalker of Sheboygan, formerly of Cedar Grove and West Bend, entered his eternal rest on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at his home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1919 in Milwaukee to the late Henry G. and Blanche (nee McCormack) Vanderwalker.

On Oct. 12, 1939 he married Audrey L. Orthmann. She died on Nov. 11, 1976.

He married Arlene J. (nee Ruesink) Veldboom on Aug. 26, 1977. Arlene passed away on May 12, 2003.

Henry grew up in Cedar Grove and graduated from Milwaukee’s Washington High School in 1936.

He attended Armour Institute in Chicago before entering the United States Army in 1942.

He served at Camp Stoneman, Pittsburgh, Calif. with the rank of master sergeant until his discharge in 1946.

Henry was employed by Orthmann Laboratories in Milwaukee and then owned and operated the Panda Corp., a manufacturer of leather treatment products in West Bend, from 1948-1992.

He was also a sales representative for Midland Cooperative of West Bend from 1949-1975.

He was then an over-the-road truck driver for 20 years.

Henry was a member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove and a former member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend.

He was also a longtime member of the West Bend Lions Club and in 1949 became a member of the S/Sgt. Henry F. Gumm Post 486 American Legion in Jackson.

Survivors include two daughters, Audrey (David W.) Mayer of Fredericksburg, Texas and Susan (John E.) Berg of Winona, Minn.; two grandchildren, John C. Berg of Wonewoc and Anne L. Berg of Winona; a brother-in-law, David D. Steward of Linn Creek, Mo.; two nephews; a niece; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph in infancy; a sister, Doris Mae Steward and a grandson, David W. Mayer in childhood.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m. at First Reformed Church, 237 S Main St., Cedar Grove, with Pastor Kent Vant Hul officiating.

Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park. , West Bend.

Visitation will be at the church only on Saturday from 9 until 10:45 a.m.

The Schmidt Funeral Home of West Bend is serving the family.
