Henry Morgan Hamm

Funeral services were held on May 30 at the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service in Charlotte, N.C., for Henry Morgan Hamm of Charlotte, N.C. Morgan passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2006 after a long illness, at the age of 93. The Rev. Fleet Kirkpatrick of the Church of the Open Door officiated the funeral service. The family received friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment took place at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Morgan was born on April 1, 1913 in Milwaukee, to the late Victor and Pearl Morgan Hamm. He loved football and received a scholarship to Lawrence University in Appleton. Morgan was in the cavalry; his horse was named Coco. He loved to talk about his time in the cavalry. He also liked to talk about his grandfather, James Morgan, who came from Germany at the age of 13. Morgan retired in 1979 after many years as a building contractor and then in 1989, he moved to Charlotte. He loved his family; he loved life. An outdoorsman, Morgan loved to fish.

Morganís survivors include his wife Ruby Osborne Hamm; daughters Barbara Weyres of Ocala, Fla., and Martha (Ervin) Hahn of West Bend; brother Hans Hamm of Waukesha; stepdaughter Barbara (Carroll) Hunter of Charlotte; and stepson Gerald (Shirley) Osborne of Matthews, N.C. He is further survived by three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and nine step- great-grandchildren.

Morgan was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy and his sister Margaret Goodwillie.
