Ardice E. Bernier

Ardice E. Bernier, (nee Heumann), age 77, of West Bend, was called home to her Lord on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend.

She was born on Feb. 21, 1929 in Milwaukee to the late Arthur and Stella (nee Pfiel) Heumann. Growing up, she attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Shortly after her high school graduation, she began a job as an administrative assistant for Prudential Insurance Co.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Bernier on Sept. 17, 1949 at Siloah Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Following her retirement after 40 years of service to Prudential, Ardice and Ray moved from Milwaukee to West Bend and became members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Ardice had a real passion for quilting and cross-stitching. Over the years, she made many quilts and cross-stitched pictures.

Ardice is survived by her loving husband, Raymond of West Bend; her two children, Lori Jean (Alan) Zastrow of West Bend, and Jodee Lynn (Michael) Riggs of Oconomowoc; a granddaughter, Michelle Zastrow of West Bend; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ellen Heumann. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Darwin Heumann.

A memorial service in honor of Ardice will be held on Tuesday, at 2 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home. Rev. John Paustion will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Cancer Center at the Aurora Health Center in Slinger. (1061 E. Commerce Blvd. and Highway 60, Slinger, WI 53086)
