Carol Wertz

Carol Wertz, nee Sachse, 69, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

Carol was born Nov. 19, 1936 to Arthur W. and Myrtle (nee Warnke) Sachse in Milwaukee, where she was also raised.

On May 11, 1957, she married Jerome A. "Jerry" Wertz in West Granville.

After marriage, the couple began a loving family of their own.

Carol was an aide at the West Bend High Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1997.

She proudly volunteered her time and energy throughout her community, especially at McLane and Slinger elementary schools, and Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

Carol was a dedicated coach of the Dolphins synchronized swim team at West Bend High Schools, and was also Sunday school superintendent and teacher at Immanuel United Church of Christ.

Carol has forever touched the lives and hearts of her beloved husband, Jerome A. "Jerry" Wertz; her adored children, Beth (Bruce) Miller of West Bend and Diana Walker of Milwaukee; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole (DeWayne) Graves, Steven Lunde, Alex Mille, and Thaddeus Walker; a great-grandchild, Kate Graves; and three brothers, Arthur Sachse of New Richmond, Ronald Sachse of West Bend and Robert (Elizabeth) Sachse of Oceanside, Calif.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Karl (Florence) Sachse; and her sister-in-law, Jean Sachse.

She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other very special relatives and dear friends.

A funeral service to honor Carol will be held on Sunday, June 25, at 5 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Chaplain Cheryl L. Matusiak officiating.

Interment will take place in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, on Monday at 10 a.m.

Visitation with family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to extend their appreciation for memorials that are offered in honor of Carol to either the American Cancer Society or Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care and endless compassion that was offered to Carol by the professional staff of healthcare professionals at Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
