Steven R. Colt

Steven R. Colt, 52, of Big Cedar Lake, West Bend, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hos-pital, town of Polk.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1954 in Chicago, to Roy and Mary (nee Jensen) Colt.

Steve’s family moved to Thiensville in 1963, and his father started Milwaukee Builders Supply in Milwaukee.

Steve graduated from Home-stead High School in Mequon in 1972, and then attended the University of Wisconsin- Osh-kosh.

In 1974 he started working for his dad as a salesman for the company, but his dad’s untimely death in 1976 required Steve to take over many new duties and he soon became owner and president of Milwaukee Builders Supply.

In 1999 Steve sold the business to a larger firm and he retired.

For a short time in 1996 through 1997 he also owned JJ Dockers on Big Cedar Lake.

Steve moved from Mequon to Big Cedar Lake in 1990 and spent time enjoying many of his friends there.

He is survived by his mother, Mary (Ken) Lenhart of Mequon; a brother, Todd (Karen) Colt of Menomonee Falls; a niece, Rebecca (Mark) Meinhardt of Jackson; two nephews, Michael and Brett Colt of Menomonee Falls; two cousins, Ann Leutenslager of Buffalo Grove, Ill. and Chris Leutenslager of New York, N.Y.; a special friend, Carrie Lauters of Big Cedar Lake; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Colt, and his sister, Beth Colt-Spaude.

Funeral services to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 1 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend.

Burial will follow in Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation are appreciated by the family.
