Colt of Big Cedar Lake, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006 at Synergy Health St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend, at the age of 52. Visitation was held at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial took place at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.
Steve was born on Jan. 3, 1954 in Chicago, Ill. to Roy and Mary (nee Jensen) Colt. In 1963, Steve’s family moved to Thiensville and his father started Milwaukee Builders Supply in Milwaukee. Steve graduated from Homestead High School in Mequon in 1972 and then attended UW-Oshkosh. In 1974 he started working for his dad as a salesman for the company. However, because of his dad’s untimely death in 1976, Steve was required to take over many new duties and he soon became owner and president of Milwaukee Builders Supply. From 1996 through 1997, Steve also owned JJ Dockers on Big Cedar Lake. In 1999, Steve sold the Milwaukee Builders Supply to a larger firm and retired.
Steve moved from Mequon to Big Cedar Lake in 1990 and spent time enjoying many of his friends there.
Steve is survived by his mother Mary (Ken) Lenhart of Mequon; brother Todd (Karen) Colt of Menomonee Falls; niece Rebecca (Mark) Meinhardt of Jackson; nephews Michael and Brett Colt of Menomonee Falls; cousins Ann Leutenslager of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Chris Leutenslager of New York, N.Y.; and special friend Carrie Lauters of Big Cedar Lake. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Roy Colt and his sister Beth Colt-Spaude.
