George E. Reichert

George E. Reichert, 73, of Theresa, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at home surrounded by his loving and supportive family.

George was born Aug. 9, 1932 to George and Florence (nee Haertel) Reichert in Slinger on the family homestead, where he grew up.

He graduated from Slinger High School in 1949, and then attended the University of Wis-consin-Madison for two years.

When his father became ill, he put his education aside and went back home to help on the family farm and nursery, until he eventually took it over.

George married Margaret Zintek, raising five beautiful children that they were very proud of.

The couple remained in Slinger until later moving to the Brownsville area.

Margaret passed away in 1995.

George later shared his life with MaryAnn Sherlock, who touched his heart deeply as his cherished friend and companion for many years. MaryAnn preceded George in death in 2005.

He was a dedicated worker as a mechanic in the agricultural field at various canning companies.

George’s love for life was instilled in all the natural beauties and wonders of the earth. He enjoyed spending all of his free time with his family and those special to him, teaching and sharing all he knew about gardens, his bird sanctuary, landscaping, trees and anything concerning nature.

He loved to watch the excitement dance in his grandchildren as their love for the outdoors grew with his own.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving children, Jane (Brad) Clements of Los Alamos, N.M., Judy Helgeson of Beaver Dam, George Reichert of San Diego, Calif., Michael Reichert of Austin, Texas and Margo (Wayne) Wells of Beaver Dam; his 14 cherished grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Nathan and Ethan Clements, Heidi, Rachel and Thomas Helgeson, Mary (Dave) Culbert, Nick, Meredith and Joe Reichert, Michael and Samantha Reichert, and Matthew Wells; and two great-grandchildren.

George will also be missed by his dear sister, Hazel Millington of Torrence; nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Cederic Millington; his sister, Esther (Lester) Seubert; and his special brothers-in-law, Donald Berghammer and John Wen-ninger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in honor of George on Saturday, March 25, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2420 Hillside Road, Richfield, with Father Charles T. Hanel officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Richfield.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday at church only from 10 a.m. until the time of the rosary at 11 a.m.

The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for memorials that are offered in lieu of flowers to the Hospice Home of Hope, 239 Trowbridge Drive, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
