John H. Oeflein

John H. Oeflein, of Jackson and Hobe Sound, Fla., passed into Godís hands on Feb. 5, 2006, as a result of prostate cancer.

John was born March 9, 1933 in Milwaukee, the son of Milton and Mildred (nee Johnston) Oeflein.

He was raised in Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

After school John went into sales and eventually purchased Milwaukee Harley-Davidson Inc., where he was president until his retirement.

John was always active with his hobbies. He was a pilot and logged many hours flying his airplane, and also collected and restored antiques, including motorcycles, cars and boats.

John was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp, fish and hunt.

John will be dearly missed by his children, Lori (Scott) Walker of Oostburg, Jon (Kristi) of Jackson, William (Petique) of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Susan (Steve) Lee of Westminster, Colo. and Peter (Criss) of Gunnison, Colo; and seven grandchildren, Natalie Walker, Nicolas and Carter Oeflein, Max and Anna Oeflein, Nicole Lee and Ryder Oeflein.

He is also survived by his sister, Mary Jane (John) Joiner of Gulf Shores, Ala.; nieces; nep-hews and good friends in Wiscon-sin and Florida.

Preceding him in death were his father, Milton; his mother, Mildred; a brother, Robert M. (Elaine); and two sisters, Betty (Ward) Glaeser and Barbara Jean (Patrick) Hassett.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 8, from 2 to 3 p.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 2881 Division Road, Jackson.

A memorial service will follow.
