Gladys E. Indermuehle
Gladys E. Indermuehle (nee Falkenstein) of Hartford passed away Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 93 years old.
She was born June 2, 1912 in Huilsburg to Fred and Meta (nee Ulmer) Falkenstein. She married Herbert Indermuehle on Nov. 30, 1932 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Huilsburg. Gladys farmed with her husband for more than three decades on their dairy farm on Arthur Road. She enjoyed gardening, dancing the polka, sheepshead, fishing trips with her family, and many trips to California and Florida to visit children and grandchildren. She was especially known for her cooking and baking with Schaum Torte being her signature dish. Her greatest enjoyment in life was being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Earl (Katie) of Carthage, Mo., Roger (Lillian) of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., Diane (William) O’Neil of Sierra Madre, Calif., Darlene (David) Larson of Janesville and Gail (Ron) Lau of Hartford; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred Falkenstein of Hartford. Gladys is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Indermuehle; a son, Clyde Indermuehle; two grandchildren, Angela Indermuehle and Gregory O’Neil; her sister, Esther (Carl) Wittenberg; and a brother, Clarence Falkenstein.
Funeral Services for Gladys were Monday, March 13, 2006 at Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford, with Pastor David Wietzke officiating. Family greeted relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
Memorials to Peace Lutheran Church or the Medical Center Foundation for the Hospice Room appreciated.
