Luella G. Vandermeulen
Luella G. Vandermeulen, nee Green, 92, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Samaritan Health Center.
Luella was born on March 1, 1914 to the late Henry and Rose "Helen" (nee Timm) Green in Evanston, Ill., where she also grew up.
She graduated from Evanston Township High School and later attended Northern Illinois University and the University of Delaware.
After earning her masterís degree in education, Luella went on to teach home economics in the Milwaukee Public School system, La Grange, Ill. and Evanston.
In 1948, Luella married Benjamin J. Hlavaty in Evanston. He passed away in 1957.
She later married Julian H. Vandermeulen on March 27, 1965 in Evanston. Julian passed away Aug. 12, 1989.
Luella belonged to the Wo-menís Club, A.A.U.W. and the Kingís Daughters, all of Evanston, Evanston Historical Society and home economics organizations.
She was also a member of Our Saviorís Lutheran Church and a past charter member of Grace Lutheran Church of Evanston.
She survived her parents; two husbands, Benjamin J. Hlavaty and Julian H. Vanermeulen; her sister, Maxine G. Robertson; and her brother, Frank Green.
Luella will be missed greatly by her brother-in-law, Merwyn J. Robertson of West Bend; her sister-in-law, Ann Green of California City, Calif.; her nephews, Scott W. (Susette) Robertson of West Bend and Paul K. Robertson (Sue Harris) of Chicago, Ill.; her niece, Marcia R. (Todd) Putney of Kodiak, Alaska; two great-nieces and five great-nephews.
She is further survived by other special relatives and many dear friends.
A funeral service to honor Luella will be held on Friday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Pastor Oscar Kraft officiating.
Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Ill.
Visitation with family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m.
