Doreen Dolezal

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, 1193 Lakefield Road, Grafton, for Doreen Dolezal, 86, of W4432 County Road G, Cedar Grove, who was called home Monday morning, March 27, 2006 with her family at her side. The Rev. Daryl Knox, pastor of the church, will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Lakefield Cemetery in Grafton. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. The Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Plymouth is serving the family.

Doreen was born on Nov. 16, 1919 in Oxford, England to the late Charles and Dora Busby Heath.

Doreen was a registered children’s nurse doing private care during World War II.

On June 9, 1945 Doreen married Cpl. Lewis J. Dolezal at Furneux Pelham Hertfordshire, England. She came to the United States on the Queen Mary in March 1946. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2005. Doreen lived in Mequon for 40 years until they moved in with her son and family in Cedar Grove in 2005. Doreen was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Grafton, where she helped out with the nursery and was also involved in the Ladies Aide. Doreen loved to knit. She donated many preemie booties to St. Michael Hospital as well as baby sweaters which were given to Lutheran World Relief. She volunteered at the Mequon and Cedarburg Senior Centers of Food and Friendship, square danced with the Country Promenaders, loved bowling and was involved with the Ozaukee Senior Games.

Survivors include her husband Lewis of Cedar Grove; sons Kenneth of Elkhart Lake, Richard (Linda) of Saukville and Timothy (Denise) of Cedar Grove; daughter Mary (Tom) Henke of Ashland. Doreen was well loved by her 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, six brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Marion Wilhelm of Ashland, Bob Dolezal of Holly, Colo., Larry (Ruth) Dolezal of Ohio City, Colo., Arthur (Marge) Dolezal of Denver, Colo., Beatrice Olson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Francis Moran of Indiana, Helen Dolezal of Woodland, Wash., Pauline Dolezal of Ashland, Zora Dolezal of Beaumont, Calif., other family and friends. She was preceded in death by one son Jeffrey, one daughter Susan Larsh as well as three grandsons, and one brother Charles.
