Earl J. Sternat
Earl J. Sternat, 79, of Allenton died Friday, April 28, 2006 at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee.
He was born March 7, 1927 in the town of LeRoy to the late Rudolph and Irene (nee Rost) Sternat, and married Madelene M. Folkman on July 9, 1947.
She passed away in 1984.
On Oct. 11, 1985, Earl married Mary Jane Reinders Schweitzer in Allenton.
He had been employed by Maysteel Corp. in Mayville as a maintenance supervisor for 27 years, and also owned and operated Maddy’s Korner Restaurant in Mayville.
Earl was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton, former chief of the Mayville Fire Department, and a member of Wisconsin Chief’s Association, the Maysteel Re-tirees and the OxBo Fishing Club.
He enjoyed family gatherings, woodworking, dancing, cards and travel.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; children, Richard (Sandra) Sternat of Mayville, Kathleen (James) Koepsell of Fond du Lac, Mary Ellen (David) Moser of Knoxville, Tenn., Diane (Terry) Opgenorth of Mayville and Jacqueline (Alan) Zimmel of Mayville; sisters and brothers, Elaine (Gilbert) Geschke of LeRoy, Eunice (Edward) Krivonak of Loveland, Colo., Arnold (Patri-cia) Sternat of Lomira, Norbert (Caroline) Sternat of Fond du Lac and Jerome (Darlene) Sternat of LeRoy; in-laws, Gladys Sternat of Tucson, Ariz., Beatrice Reinders of Milwaukee, Wilmer (Lucy) Wolf of Allenton, Dorothy Ritger of Allenton, Dorothy Schweitzer of West Bend and Ruth Sch-weitzer of Allenton; grandchildren, Tanya (Dean) Wells, Tracy (DJ) Legas, Brock (fiancŽe Kelly Christian) Cotter, Melissa Zim-mel, Angela Zimmel, Amanda Zimmel and Lisa Koepsell; great-grandchildren, Cody, Cole and Annaliese; other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first, wife, Maddy in 1984; and two brothers, Merlin and Rudy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. from Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton.
Father Michael Wild will officiate, and entombment will be in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.
Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 3 until 7:45 p.m.
The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.
