Marie W. Boothroyd

Marie W. Boothroyd, nee West-phal, 88, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006, at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hos-pital.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1918 in Cambridge to the late Paul and Hattie (nee Wagner) Westphal.

Marie graduated as salutatorian from Cambridge High School with the class of 1935.

She then attended the Univer-sity of Wisconsin and graduated in 1939 with a degree in commerce.

Marie was united in marriage to Russell Boothroyd on Jan. 25, 1941 in Madison.

Together they moved to the Milwaukee area and Marie held several part-time jobs. She was an activities director for senior citizens, a sales clerk for Marshall Fields at Mayfair Mall and sold World Books.

In 1963 the couple moved back to Madison, where Marie was again active with senior citizens and in her church.

They moved to Arkansas in 1980 after Russell retired, and then to West Bend in 1989.

Marie was an active member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed playing the piano. Marie will best be remembered as a family mother, always concerned, caring and helping her husband, children and grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her husband, Russell; two daughters, Susan (Norman) Loomer of Ripon and Barbara (Jeff) Terry of Howell, Mich.; four grandchildren, David Loomer of Minne-apolis, Minn., Jonathan (Lisa) Loomer of Fanwood, N.J., Kathryn (Paul) Hauser of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Bradley Terry of Grand Haven, Mich.; two great-grandsons, Michael and Ryan Loomer; a sister, Catherine (C. Reed) Parker of Glenview, Ill.; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held on Sunday, May 7, at 3 p.m., at the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, West Bend.

Rev. Jon Bartlett will officiate, and burial of her cremated remains will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville.

Visitation will be at the church only on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
