Frederick Robert Burow

Frederick Robert Burow, 84, of Slinger, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.

He was born July 3, 1921 in Richfield, to James and Elizabeth (nee Buntrock) Burow.

He was baptized on July 24, 1921 and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church on March 25, 1934.

He married the love of his life, Marion Kuhaupt on Sept. 21, 1946.

Fred graduated in 1939 from Slinger High School.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford, and a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.

Fred worked for The West Bend Co. and thereafter at Chrysler Outboard for many years before retiring in 1982.

Fred contracted polio in 1954, yet he did not let this stop him from living life to the fullest. He persevered and maintained a positive attitude throughout his life.

He enjoyed leather working and wood working.

Fred was a very caring and conscientious man. He encouraged people with phone calls or cards and prayers during rough times in their lives.

He would send out magazine subscriptions to people to give them some good reading and to build up their spirits.

Survivors include his three sons, James (Connie) of Stevens Point, Michael (Sharon) of Slinger and Joel of Slinger; five grandchildren, Ben, Amanda, Daniel, Matthew (Jodi) and Katherine (Ryan); four great- grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Madeleine and Taylor; and a sister-in-law, Marian Kuhaupt of Slinger.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, and two stillborn babies, Jeanne and Joel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18, at 5 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford.

Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Interment will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday at Union Cemetery, Slinger.

Memorials to establish a scholarship in Frederick Burow’s name would be appreciated.
