John E. Hetzel Jr.

John E. Hetzel Jr. passed away on April 30 in Green Valley, Ariz.

John was born Oct. 21, 1912 in West Bend, to the late John and Emma (Engmann) Hetzel Sr. He married LaVerne Timm in 1935 at Holy Angels Church in West Bend.

John lived in West Bend until he and LaVerne moved to Green Valley, Ariz. in 1978. John joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1936 and retired as superintendent of mails. He spent 10 years at the West Bend Company in Production Control. John also served as a member of the County Board of Supervisors. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Loyal Order of the Moose and was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish.

John is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (David) Dondlinger of West Bend; his son, Jon, of Green Valley, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Tim (Mary) Dondlinger, Jane (Dave) Baumgartner, Andy (Heather) Dondlinger, Kara (Todd) Guse, Kristin (Mike) Kohn, Steve (special friend, Steph) Mayer, MacKensey Hetzel; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary (Marcel) Starr and other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Paul and Belle Timm; his wife, LaVerne; and his daughter, Patricia Mayer; and five sisters.

A Mass of remembrance was held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Green Valley on May 12, with interment at the Green Valley Mortuary.
