Mildred H. Gundrum

Mildred H. Gundrum (nee Eckhart), 91, of Hartford, formerly of Slinger, entered into eternal peace on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006 at Hartford Healthcare Center.

Mildred was born April 18, 1915, the daughter of Carl and Helen (nee Beck) Eckhart in Richfield, where she was also raised and educated.

On Sept. 7, 1940 Mildred devoted her love to Gregory G. Gundrum at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Hubertus. She enjoyed her life as a dedicated farm wife and mother, and assisted her husband for 36 years with dairy farming. Their family farm remains and is today known as Heritage Trails County Park on Highway E.

In 1990, Mildred moved to Slinger, where she was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richfield and their Christian Women Society; all church functions were a big part of Mildred’s life.

She was also an active leader of the Hi-lite Happy Workers 4-H Club.

Mildred will be forever loved and kept deep in the hearts of her children, Elaine (Ralph) Wagner of Hartford, Leslie (Mariann) Gundrum of West Bend, Rita Lochen of West Bend, Robert (Linda) Gundrum of Menomonee Falls, and Diana (Mark) Weber of Ames, Iowa; her treasured grandchildren, Pam (Steve) Kescenovitz of Slinger, Angela Wagner (Fiancˇ Todd) of Pewaukee, Penny (Alan) Tank of New London, Jane Wagner of Hartford, Nick Gundrum (Fiancˇe Michelle) of Menomonee Falls, Cindy (Scott) Bellon of West Bend, Karen (Zach) Mueller of Richfield, Matthew (Fiancˇe Jenny) Weber of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jonathan Weber of Ames, Iowa, and Michael Weber of Ames, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren, Alison and Melis-sa Kescenovitz.

Mildred will also be remembered by her sisters-in-law, Josephine Brittain of Slinger, Christina Wood of Milwaukee, Othilda Gundrum of West Bend and Elizabeth Theusch of Kewaskum; many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and dear friends.

She was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her husband, Gregory, who died on Dec. 23, 2005; her parents, Carl and Helen Eckhart; sister, Evelyn Theusch and her husband, Edward; her siblings-in-law, John (Marie) Gundrum, Ben (Grace) Gundrum, Jacob (Elizabeth) Gundrum, Andrew Gun-drum, Theodore (Jeanette) Gundrum, and Angeline (John) Schmitz; her son-in-law, Paul Lochen, who died in 2004; and her infant grandson, Mark Wagner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in honor of Mildred on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 202 E. Washington St., Slinger, with Father Richard J. Stoffel officiating.

Visitation will be held prior to the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at church only beginning at 4 p.m.

Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services, followed by spring interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Richfield.

Memorials are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
