William Henry "Bill" Braunschweig

William Henry "Bill" Braunschweig of Ashippun passed into eternal life on Friday Nov. 3, 2006 at the Beverly Terrace Health Care Center in Watertown.

He was 68 years old.

He was born April 6, 1938 in Ashippun to Edgar and Hildegard (nee Braatz) Braunschweig. He married Lucille Schultz on Dec. 14, 1963 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Horicon.

Bill graduated from Oconomowoc High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis.

Bill farmed most of his life. For a few years after farming, Bill worked at Maysteel in Allenton. He was active in the 4-H and won several awards. Traveling and spending time with his family were the things Bill loved most.

He was a former member and president of the the Ashippun Lions Club. Bill was a member of St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church.

Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lucy; a son, Steven (Elizabeth) Braunschweig of Reedsburg; two daughters, Susan (Jason) Gleckman of Ashippun and Sara Braunschweig of Ashippun; four grandchildren; Rebecca and Craig Braunschweig, Amie and Andrew Azad; a sister, Joyce Sevde of Menomonee, Mich.; and a brother, Edgar Braunschweig of Ashippun. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services for Bill were Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Rubicon, with Rev. Matt Lee officiating.

Family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday prior to the service.

Interment was at St. Olaf Cemetery, Rubicon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Olaf’s Church Building Fund or the charity of one’s choice.

Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford assisted the family.
