Viola K. Wendorf

Viola K. Wendorf, 94, of Cove Place in Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Hartford, passed away at Fountainview Place Nursing Home in Mishawaka of natural causes. Viola was born Feb. 24, 1912 in Herman to Christ and Ida (Dummer) Gimmel. On Sept. 22, 1928, she married Edgar Wendorf in St. Johnís United Church, Hartford. Viola was employed by Libby McNeal and Libby Foods in Hartford for nine years. She moved from Hartford to Mishawaka in 1987. She was also a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Granger, Indiana and Hartford. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, and working puzzles in her spare time. Surviving is her daughter, Beverly (Harold) Coleman of Mishawaka; a daughter-in-law, June Wendorf-Roush of Racine, Ohio; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces and a nephew. Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; by her sons, Edgar Jr. and Earl Wendorf, a brother, Ray Gimmel; two sisters, Marcella Rahbert and Irene Matzdorf; and a grandson, Jeff Wendorf. Visitation and a funeral service was Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Indiana. There was also visitation and a funeral service on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006 at Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. David Weitzki officiating. Family will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006 from 10-11 a.m., processing to Pleasant Hill Cemetery for burial. Memorial contributions in her name may be given to Peace Lutheran Church in Granger, Ind. or Hartford.
