Brian "Norm" Rate

Brian "Norm" Rate, of Slinger, entered into eternal peace on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 at his residence, after 33 years of life.

He was born on April 27, 1973, the son of Frederick Leroy and Marie Caroline (nee Merten) Rate, in Hartford.

Norm was raised and educated in Slinger, graduating with the class of 1992.

After high school, he be-gan a career in the concrete business, which he very was passionate about. He worked his way up to becoming a foreman for Mortensen.

During his free time, Norm enjoyed hunting, taking care of cattle, longhorns in particular, and was constantly busy whether he was repairing something, landscaping or anything pertaining to his home.

Above all, spending time with his family was his top priority, especially with his nephew, Robert.

Norm will be remembered always as being a very generous and selfless individual.

Norm is survived by his loving parents, Frederick and Marie Rate of Slinger; his treasured brother and best friend, Kevin Rate of Slinger; his dear sister, Katie Rate of Slinger; his adored nephew, Robert Rate; and his step-grandmother, Mary Rate of West Bend.

He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, other very special relatives and dear friends.

Norm was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peter (Melinda) Merten and Roland (Marie) Rate; and two uncles, Robert Blank and James Merten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, at St. Peterís Catholic Church, 202 E. Washington St., Slinger, with Father Richard J. Stoffel officiating.

Visitation will be held for family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, and will continue on Saturday at St. Peterís Church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow Mass on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

The family would like to extend its appreciation for memorials that are offered in lieu of flowers to an educational fund for his nephew or to the charity of oneís choice.
