David B. Konen

David B. Konen, 79, of Plymouth, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center in Sheboygan.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1927 to the late Peter and Anna Sch-mitz Konen on a farm near Dotyville, where he grew up and attended schools.

As a teenager, David mov-ed to Plymouth where he worked until he was 17. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific for two years.

After his discharge from the service, David returned to Plymouth and on Oct. 29, 1947 he and the former Cora Bergin were married.

They continued to live in Plymouth until 1951, when they moved to Barton, where they lived and worked for 50 years.

He was employed for the Asplundh Tree Expert Co. for about 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Cora; seven children, James (Kathy) Konen of Casper, Wyo., Patricia Konen, John Konen and Peter (Cherie) Konen, all of Plymouth, Beverly (Art) Kelling of Random Lake, Kay (Gary) Nothem and Karen (Paul) Stark, both of Adell; 10 grandchildren, Renee Bong, David and Valerie Kelling, Craig, Ben, James and Paul Konen, Paul, Cory and Nicole Stark; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ambrose (Jill) Konen of New Holstein; a sister, Anna Marie Schneider of Sheboygan.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Lueck.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.

David was also a life member of the VFW Post 8658 in Barton.

It was Davidís desire that there be no services or visitation.

Cremation arrangements were made with inurnment at a later date at St. Maryís Cemetery in West Bend.

A memorial fund is being established in Davidís name.
