Thomas J. Gundrum
Thomas J. Gundrum, 62, of Slinger, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born on Sept. 21, 1944 in Hartford to Roy and Jeanette Gundrum (nee Mago), and was raised in Slinger, graduating from Slinger High School in 1962.
After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam.
Upon returning from the service, Tom went back to school and had several jobs before joining his father in the family meat market, becoming the third generation to do so.
Tom was a member of the VFW Slinger Branch.
His passion, since age 12, was hunting.
He loved to mentor kids after high school to help them prepare for the real world of work.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley (nee Schinke); children, Michael (Becky) and Heidi (Gerald) Lofy, both of Slinger; grandchildren, Adam, Emily and Thomas Lofy, and Taylor and Kylie Gundrum; his parents, Roy and Jeanette of Slinger; his siblings, Mark (Kay) of Michigan, Frank (Sherry) of Hartford, Rosie (Donald) Brown of Kentucky, Barbara (Bill) Badini of Hartford and Lori (Thomas) Teusch of Slinger; and his mother-in-law, Delores Schinke.
He is further survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; a lifelong friend, Arnold Malsack; his hunting partner, Thomas Zimmerman; and also several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
The funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at St. Peterís Catholic Church, 202 E. Washington St., Slinger, with Father Rick Stoffel officiating.
Cremation will be at Paradise Cremation Services, West Bend.
Visitation with family and friends will take place on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 7 p.m. at St. Peterís Church.
