Thomas J. Gundrum
Thomas J. Gundrum of Slinger passed away on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at his residence surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 62.
Tom was born on Sept. 21, 1944 in Hartford to Roy and Jeanette Gundrum (nee Mago). He was raised in Slinger, graduating from Slinger High School Class of Ď62. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. Upon returning from the service, he went back to school and had several jobs before joining his father in the family meat market becoming the third generation to do so. Tom was a member of the VFW Slinger Branch. His passion, since age 12, was hunting. He loved to mentor kids after high school to help them prepare for the real world of work.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley (nee Schinke); children, Michael (Becky) of Slinger and Heidi (Gerald) Lofy of Slinger; grandchildren, Adam, Emily, and Thomas Lofy, and Taylor and Kylie Gundrum; his parents, Roy and Jeanette of Slinger; his siblings, Mark (Kay) of Michigan, Frank (Sherry) of Hartford, Rosie (Donald) Brown of Kentucky, Barbara (Bill) Badini of Hartford and Lori (Thomas) Teusch of Slinger; and his mother-in-law, Delores Schinke.
He is further survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law; a lifelong friend, Arnold Malsack; his hunting partner, Thomas Zimmerman; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral Mass was Tuesday, Oct. 3 at St. Peterís Catholic Church in Slinger, with Fr. Rick Stoffel officiating. Cremation was handled by Paradise Cremation Services. Visitation with family and friends was Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the church prior to the Mass.
