Jeanette Alice Hayes

Jeanette Alice Hayes, nee Degroot, 85, of West Bend was called home by God on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006 at Kathy Hospice.

Jeanette was born Sept. 14, 1921, the youngest of three children, to Albert and Anna (nee Gruenberg) De-groot in Wausau, where she was also raised.

After high school, Jeanette worked and married Frank Hayes in Chicago. The couple resided in several different locations, including Dubuque, Davenport and finally settled in Milwaukee.

They began a loving family of their own, whom Jeanette devoted her love and time to.

After raising her three daughters, Jeanette worked at Gimbels and later retired from Wool-worth’s.

She and Frank moved to Cedar Ridge in 1998, where they enjoyed participating in daily activities, including one of their favorites, golfing.

Jeanette was the loving mother of Pat (Brad) Brandt, Kathy (Foster) Hancock and Mary Hayes; the dear grandmother of Jeff, Scott, Julie and Brian; and the cherished great-grandmother of Jordan Ashlea, Lauren Emily, Jordan Thomas and Sydney Rae.

She is further survived by her grandpuppy, Winnie; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Jeanette was greeted at the gates of heaven by her dear husband, Frank Hayes; and her great-granddaughter, Rachel Nicole.

A funeral service in honor of Jeanette will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, with Chaplain David Stone officiating.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.

A private family interment will take place in Pinelawn Cemetery in Milwaukee.

The family would like to request that memorials are offered in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 640 Jackson St., St. Paul, MN. 55101.

The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at both Ivy Manor Assisted Living and Kathy Hospice.
