Thomas A. ĎTomí Thorson, 76

Thomas Albert "Tom" Thorson, 76, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Josephís Hospital.

Tom was born Oct. 14, 1930, the son of Albert Leonard and Elsie May (nee Schofield) Thorson, in Chetek,

The family moved to the West Bend area, where Tom was raised and graduated from West Bend High School in 1948.

After high school, Tom honorably served his country with the United States Air Force.

When he returned,Tom attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi and graduated in 1956.

He served as the chairman of the town of Grand Chute from 1965-1969.

On May 18, 1978, Tom devoted his life and love to Carol Kay Mittelstaedt-Hovey at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in West Bend.

He was a member of the Toastmasters of West Bend, the Christian Business Menís Committee and the Stephen Ministry at St. Johnís.

In his free time, Tom loved playing cards, reading, fishing, golfing, testing his abilities at crossword puzzles and avidly supporting both the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers.

Tom will be deeply missed by his beloved wife and best friend, Carol; his children, Janine (Jeff) Coleman of Portage, Gary Thorson of Milwaukee, David (Susan) Thorson of Midlothian, Va., Nancy (Mark) Nothem of West Bend, Mark (Debbie) Hovey of Fort Collins, Colo., Dan (Sherry) Hovey of Port Washington and Jennifer Thorson of West Bend; his 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his siblings-in-law, Darlene (Marvin) Nichols of Menomonee Falls, Darlene (Donald) Radt-ke of St. Charles, Ill., Jacqueline Thorson of Ripon and Duane (Betty) Mittelstaedt of Berlin; and longtime friend, Alan Ortlieb.

He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and many dear friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Donald.

A funeral service in honor of Tom will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 809 S. Sixth Ave., West Bend, with Rev. Robert Hoehner officiating.

A visitation of family and friends will also be held at the church on Saturday 9:30 to 11:15 a.m.
