Vernon "Ray" Kaufman

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Church and Chapel Funeral Home (380 Bluemound Road) in Waukesha for Vernon "Ray" Kaufman of Greenfield. Ray passed away on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 at the age of 81. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., prior to the memorial service.

Ray served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. An alumnus of the University of Illinois, "Fighting Illini," he was a professional engineer and retired from Tecumseh Products. An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Ray loved spending time at the family cottage on Geneva Lake in Williams Bay. Most importantly, he was a man who put family first and was a great mentor to many.

Ray was the beloved husband of the late Carol; the devoted father of Donna L. Kaufman (Dan Graham), Douglas R. (Mary) Kaufman and Carolyn A. (Eric) Schamberger; beloved grandfather of Ken, Gloria, Nicole, Michelle, Cheyenne, Seth and Carli; and the dear brother of Donald (Uni) Kaufman and Earl (Dorothy) Kaufman. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews and good friends.

Dad and Grandpa, rest in peace. Your time on earth was worthwhile. Thank you for all you gave us. Your spirit will live in our hearts now and forever.
