Dennis L. Gerrietts
Dennis L. Gerrietts, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center of Hartford, at the age 67.
Dennis was born on Jan. 9, 1939 to the late Leonard and Vera Gerrietts (nee Utesch) in Irton, Iowa. He was raised in Illinois where he also married the love of his life, Loralee (nee Rode), on Sept. 21, 1957 at Faith Lutheran Church in Illinois. There, they started a family of their own before moving to Wisconsin in 1974. Dennis was a NC processing engineer for over 30 years, working for various companies. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping, and gambling. He was a Black Jack dealer for a number of years. He also enjoyed reading and listening to books on tape. Above all, Dennis loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were all apples of his eyes.
He is survived by his loving wife; six cherished children, Kathleen (Lincoln) Smithyman of Rubicon, Dennis Jr. (Cindy) Gerrietts of West Bend, Jeffrey Gerrietts of Racine, Christine (Tom) Taylor of Hubertus, Steven (Jeanie) Gerrietts of Theresa and Nadine (Shawn) Race of Barton; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Karon (Tom) Epperson of Germantown, Ohio, and Sandra (Dave) Dunn of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one brother, Rodney Gerrietts of Des Moines, Iowa. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service to honor the life of Dennis will be Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Hubertus, with Pastor Jay Thorson officiating. Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend. The visitation with family and friends will be on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006 from 4 p.m. to the time of the service at the church.
