Virginia Florence L. "Ginny" Borchert

Virginia Florence L. "Ginny" Borchert, nee Schwamb, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at her home in Hartford.

Ginny was born Aug. 3, 1924 to Frederick and Anita (nee Herman) Schwamb in Richfield, and was baptized and confirmed in St. Jacobi Church in Richfield.

Ginny graduated from Rich-field State Graded School and later attended and graduated from Slinger High School.

In 1945, she married Howard Gilbert, who passed away in 1947.

She later married Elroy J. Borchert in 1953 at Christ UCC in Dheinsville.

Ginny was active in various aspects of her community, including New Hope United Church of Christ in Jackson, Hartford Senior Friends, Hartford Square Condominium Association, nu-merous Rural Letter Carriers associations in Washington County, the state of Wisconsin and on the national level, SSgt Henry F. Gumm Auxiliary 0486, and Wauwatosa Chapter 219 Order of the Eastern Star.

Throughout her working years, she was employed by Rockfield Canning Co., General Electric in Jackson as a telephone operator, Hoge and Gumm Store, Dr. James Albrecht, M.D., Dr. Russell Heder, D.D.S. and retired from the United States Postal Service in 1985 after 24 years of service.

In her free time, Ginny enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, bowling and traveling.

She will be missed by her beloved husband, Elroy J. "Ike."

She is the dear mother of James (fiancˇe, Sue Picciolo) Borchert of West Bend and Cynthia (Frank) Hammond of Appleton.

She is further survived by her two brothers, Harold and Franklin Schwamb of Waupaca; her sister-in-law, Lillian Borchert of Menomonee Falls; two step-grandsons, Scott (Kelli) Ham-mond and Steve (Heather) Ham-mond; five great-granddaughters; many nieces, nephews, other special relatives and friends.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters-in-law, Ruthe Schwamb and Maxine Schwamb.

A memorial service to honor Ginny will be held on Friday, Sept. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at New Hope United Church of Christ, 4360 Jackson Drive, Jackson, with Rev. James Hill officiating.

Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.

Visitation with family and friends will be held at the church only on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to extend their appreciation for memorials offered to either New Hope United Church of Christ or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Visiting Nurse Association, Gemini Home Health Caregivers, Rev. Jim Hill and Rev. Howard Kusler for their compassionate care and support.
