Katherine A. Wenzlaff

Katherine A. Wenzlaff, nee Rohlinger, of West Bend, died on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 at her daughter’s home with her family at her side at the age of 90. She was born on June 8, 1916 in Lomira to the late Mathias and Katherine A. (nee Braun) Rohlinger.

As a young child, her family moved to the town of Auburn where they farmed. Then, as a young adult, Kate moved to West Bend and began working as a sewer at Amity Leather Products.

On May 30, 1953, she was united in marriage to Edward B. Wenzlaff at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Eddie predeceased Nov. 25, 1999.

In 1955, Kate stopped working for Amity to become a full-time wife and mother. When their daughter was older, Kate went back to work at the former Bauer’s Bakery for a few years.

She was a member of the Christian Women's Confraternity at Holy Angels Catholic Parish, a member of the Mission Circle and Kate and Eddie also made and repaired rosaries for the missions.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann (Joseph P.) Lennartz of Allenton; four grandchildren, Joseph E. Lennartz (fiancee Ady Bohn) of Allenton, Katherine (Matthew) Tennies of Hartford, Angela Lennartz of Allenton and Jason Lennartz of Allenton; one sister, Margaret (Joseph) Moser of West Bend; one sister-in-law Leona Berndt of West Bend; two brothers-in-law Walter (Gladys) Wenzlaff and Ralph Wenzlaff (friend Gloria Bonlender), both of West Bend, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by 6 brother and sisters: Clarence (Cecil) Rohlinger, Castella "Stella" (John) Dutcheck, Leo (Johanna) Rohlinger, Regina (Adolph) Neumeyer, Armella (Lee) Brown and Otillia (Frank) Stoffel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend with Father Rick Wendell presiding. Burial will be Tuesday in Holy Angels Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church only on Monday from 4 until 6:45 p.m.
