Helen A. Howard

Helen A. Howard, 88, formerly of Campbellsport died Wednes-day Sept. 13, 2006 at St. Edward Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Ark.

She was born in Chile, Wis. on Dec. 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Croell) Adler, and on Oct. 2, 1937, she married Leslie C. Howard at the First Baptist Church in Campbellsport where they were members.

The couple farmed on the Howard homestead in the town of Ashford, and Helen also worked in the cafeteria at Campbellsport Public School before retiring.

Helen loved doing crafts, gardening, her family and her many friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Bill) Babcock of Smithville, Okla. and Donna (Willard) Peterson of Waubeka; two grandchildren, Gregory (Dawn) Peterson of Sheboygan and Connie Peterson of Raleigh, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Maddie Helen and Molly Elizabeth Peterson; two sisters, Jane Schickert of Wausau and Delores (Ed) Kanneberg of Rockford, Ill.; three brothers, Herb (Virginia) Adler of Moringo, Stanley (Sharon) Adler of Cumberland and Martin (Sylvia) Adler of Gassville, Ark.; a brother-in-law, Donald Howard of Columbus, N.M.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Les, on Jan. 11, 2000; a brother, Cyrell Adler; and a sister, Vivian Salentine.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Campbellsport.

Rev. David Nothem will officiate and burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Campbellsport.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, and on saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the church.
