Virgil L. Dobratz

Virgil L. Dobratz, "Dobie,í of the town of Addison, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 14th, 2006, at the age of 80.

He was born on March 4, 1926 to the late Bernard and Alvira (nee Henschel) Dobratz in Milwaukee, where he was also raised. He attended Shorewood High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marines during WWII. He met Eloise and six weeks later, they got married. After the war, he was employed by Blatz and then Pabst Brewing Co. where he retired after 30 years of service. He enjoyed hobby farming, watching professional boxing, playing Sheepshead, riding his ATV, going to auctions, and calm evenings sitting on the porch. He liked watching westerns on T.V. Above all, Virgil loved being with his grandchildren.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eloise (nee Steffeck); six children, Sherrie (Richard) Barry of Slinger, Jeff Dobratz of Hartford, Nancy (Daryl) Aslin of Hartford, Dawn (Ronald) Fehring of the town of Polk, Cindy (Jeff) Deitsch of West Bend, Jackie (Paul) Boden of Hartford; 14 grandchildren, Jessica, Adam, Mathew, Sheena, Bridget, Amber, Justin, Amanda, Austin, Ashlee, Sabrina, Dylan, Brittany, Harrison; and 2 great-grandchildren, Cole and Caiden. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the EMTís from Allenton and First Response team of St. Lawrence. Also, a special thanks to Jack Wenninger for his compassion to the family.

The memorial service to honor the life of Virgil will be on Monday, Sept. 18, at

7 p.m. at The Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend (1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend). Cremation, Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, Sept. 18, from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
